Watch Night is a fun New Year’s Eve festivals in Northern Virginia. Watch Night spans four blocks of Falls Church. There are live bands and musicians, amusements, activities, inflatables for all ages, puppet shows, and more at Watch Night.
Watch Night begins on the 100 Block of West Broad Street which is closed to traffic that evening. There is lots of live music, interactive amusements and activities, inflatables, and more for all ages. Live bands and more musicians, caricaturist, balloon artist, puppet shows and more are in store for those who attend Watch Night. Scores of volunteers contribute time and talent to organize and help the businesses, churches, and organizations who donate their space from 7 pm up until midnight.
Free Shuttle Bus goes every 30 minutes from East Falls Church Metro Station to all venues, running from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Watch Night is not only famous for featuring amazing local talent, but also because of the enormous volunteer network that makes it possible. Watch Night has been celebrated for the past 21 years.
Just before midnight, the New Year countdown begins accompanied by the lowering of the brightly lit Falls Church historic star, the city's first-holiday decoration from its first year as an incorporated city in 1948.
Watch night is held at the Grand FunAlley located between Park Avenue, North Maple Avenue, North Washington Street and the 100 block of West Broad Street. Activities for kids include a Velcro wall, karaoke, professional face painters and caricature artists, balloon artists, Tiger Belly Moonbounce, slides, and other inflatables, magic shows, a climbing wall, a bungee jump, and dance lessons.
The Victorian Society at Falls Church re-enacts the life of Victorians 100 years ago, during 1917 prior to the USA’s entry to WWI, at the Cherry Hill Farmhouse. Local restaurants offer special Walking Watch Night menus featuring items that are easy to carry.
