Replica Historic Warship to Dock In Alexandria In Summer 2019

The Alexandria based Tall Ship Providence Foundation with approval from the city council will dock a replica of the U.S.S Providence, America's first warship in the Continental Navy at Alexandria's marina this summer. The replica ship is based on the historical ship used in 1768 in 60 battles under the command of Captain John Paul Jones. The ship will be available to visitors until May 2020 after which a more permanent visitor center will be opened in Waterfront Park. Visitors to the ship will experience life abroad an eighteenth-century sloop with an opportunity to meet John Paul Jones. The Tall Ship Providence Foundation will offer cruises on the Potomac which will include family oriented adventures and a craft brew cruise. Residents and visitor will be allowed to rent the ship to celebrate special events.
Replica U.S.S Providence
Public tours will be held from Monday - Fridays 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on weekends 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Craft beer cruises will only be available on Fridays from 6 to 10 pm while private charters will be available from 5 p.m. to midnight daily.
