There can be a lot of things said about living in the Northern Virginia area, but one big thing would be the great access to jobs in the tri-city area.  Deciding on which area to live can be based on the ability to get to and from your workplace.  There is no denying that in an area like this that traffic can be a pain but it is great to know that there are options available if a car is not the most economical route for transportation. Fairfax County, in particular, has developed a number of ways to meet the rising demand for public transportation and its great to know many city's have bus systems already in place.  There are plenty of park and ride lots in the area that allow for commuters to drive to a particular location, park their car, and finish the rest of route to work on the metro.  This helps the commuter avoid long waits in traffic and lower the cost of paying for gas in your car. The metro is slated to extend out to Loudoun County and has already reached areas in Fairfax and Reston.  There are several housing options next to these locations and they all have condos, townhomes, or single family's available for purchase.  If you are a commuter looking for a great place to live that help your commuting costs, then you should check out Fairfax County.  It's a commuter's dream.

Tyson’s Corner Center

Located twenty minutes outside of Washington D.C., McLean Virginia is home to several prominent businesses and residences. Summer season at Wolf Trap a fun, eclectic line-up

If you like Broadway shows, but can’t afford the tickets. Want a night at the symphony but can’t seem to make the time. Or are ready to revisit those rock and roll songs from your youth, make a date with Wolf Trap this summer. The summer concert season at Wolf Trap’s Filene Center kicks off Memorial Day weekend with an eclectic mix of comedy, concerts and symphonies. Where else can you see The Monkees (yes, those Monkees) on a Sunday night and enjoy the Mormon Tabernacle Choir the following Wednesday? Huey Lewis and the News will slip in right after the Aspen Sante Fe Ballet but before “Fiddler on the Roof.” Located between the Dulles Toll Road and Leesburg Pike/Rte. 7 in Vienna, Wolf Trap’s Filene Center will host more than 90 performances from late May through mid-September. The amphitheater nestled in the National Park for the Performing Arts, seats 7,028 including more than 3,000 lawn seats. This year’s line-up includes perennial favorites Garrison Keillor (of Prairie Home Companion fame), Bill Cosby, The Beach Boys and Mary Chapin Carpenter. Broadway visits Wolf Trap with performances of “Sweeney Todd,” “Mama Mia” and Fiddler. Take a step back in time with concerts by The Go-Go’s, Peter Frampton, The Temptations, The Four Tops and Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Symphony lovers will enjoy performances by the National Symphony Orchestra with “Tcheers to Tchaikovsky,” and “Three Broadway Divas.” Tickets are now on sale for many shows. Taste the Middle East without leaving Tysons Corner

Alf Laylah is located at 8605 Westwood Center Drive #100 in Vienna, VA 22180.  If you are looking for a fun time around the Tysons Corner area, Alf Laylah is the place to be on Friday and Saturday nights.  Alf Laylah is a restaurant that on these nights turns into a lounge.  It is a great place to listen to live Arabian songs and get familiar with the Middle Eastern culture.  The lounge has a dance floor, a full bar and has a variety of hookahs available for customers.  The social scene is a fun and youthful.  The prices are modest for the lounge and the food is amazing. A great fact about Alf Laylah is that when you go you feel welcomed since the staff is very friendly and the restaurant is very chic and has a modern feel to it.  It is not something that you would expect from a typical Middle Eastern restaurant, and the live music is just spectacular.  The fun fact about the weekend nights is that they have live belly dancing performances, which is a very exciting experience for most.  It is a great place for a date or for a group of friends to go eat, drink, dance and smoke.

Scott’s Run Nature Preserve

Scott's Run Nature Preserve is one of Fairfax County's most rugged parks and public areas. Scott's Run Nature Preserve is located at 7400 Georgetown Pike in McLean, just outside the Beltway near Tysons Corner and Dunn Loring. The nature preserve is named for Scott's Run, a tributary of the Potomac River. The creek springs from a very large ancient gravel deposit that is the highest altitude in Fairfax County. The point of origin is just below the parking lots of the shopping centers of Tysons Corner. Flowing east, through many business parks and condominium complexes, Scott's Run empties into the Potomac at the waterfall. Hikers will find two entrances into the valley park. One path trails along the stream and the other path leads to the bluffs above the river. Hiking the trails of Scott's Run can be challenging and rewarding. Some trails are gentle and wind quietly through the forest. Other trails require hiking up and down very steep hills and cliffs. Be aware that the trails down the bluffs to the Potomac River are sheer in many places, and visitors must very carefully pick their way down the rocky cliffs.

McKinley Elementary is located in North McKinley Road, Arlington, Virginia. It ranks on the top spot of top rating schools in Northern Virginia, because 79% of the school’s students rated as “advanced” (the highest among three levels). The rating was determined through a series of state tests.
  2. Key Center School
    3. School Vision: "Key Center School creates an educational climate where diversity and individuality are celebrated and respected, and where all staff continually strive to maximize the potential of each student through increasingly higher expectations." Springfield City of Fairfax County is home to Key Center School, which ranks second on the list with 77% of its students in the “advanced” level (jumping from 64% in a span of five years).
  3. Churchill Road Elementary
    4. McLean, Virginia – along Churchill Road – is the location of Churchill Road Elementary, the elementary school snagging the third spot on the list with a rating of a 77% (from 55% in 2003).
  4. Greenbriar West Elementary
    5. Greenbriar West Elementary is located at Poplar Tree Road in the Chantilly Area of Fairfax County Virginia. It ranks 4th even as it shows a significant leap in its ratings from 47% in 2003 to 77% five years later.
  5. Louise Archer Elementary
    6. Located in Nutley Street, Vienna, Virginia, Louise Archer Elementary completes the top 5 list belting a 76% rating from 2003’s 64%.
