Fairlington is an unincorporated neighborhood near the boundary between Arlington County and the City of Alexandria, Virginia. The neighborhood of Fairlington is filled with brick townhouse-type condominiums. Fairlington was built in the 1940s as the largest housing project financed by the Defense Homes Corporation during World War II. For this reason, Fairlington is listed on both the National Register of Historic Places and on the Virginia Landmarks Register.
