How To Select A Northern Virginia Realtor To Hunt $555,000 Residences Not Unlike 6409 Maryview St In 22310

Your best choice in Alexandria might work for a family business (or a Fortune-400 company), and isn't necessarily born in 22310. The perfect real estate agent for you is one who listens to you,  and wants to work hard to find you the abode of your dreams.

Each home hunter is unique. Some property hunters don't plan on selling. Others need to move in 4 years. Some buyers will only be happy with a move-in ready Colonial. Some home buyers love fixer-uppers. Just as each buyer is an individual, Realtors have different faculties and skills. Here's some best practices for choosing the right licensed real estate adviser for you when you’re purchasing in 22310:

  1. Check out agent referrals. — I like Angie’s List because I know that Angie’s List voice verifies each review. You can also see if the agent or brokerage has any awards for client satisfaction.
  2. Take a minute to talk to a couple of licensed real estate advisers — There is no one-size-fits-all. I know that I'm not the Realtor for every home buyer. You sometimes need to see the house you don't want to buy to feel comfortable with the home you will pick up. It's the same with Realtors.
  3. Don't under estimate the value of chemistry. — Interpersonal skills are as important as professional skills. You want a good listener and a real estate agent this isn't eager to the point of desperation.
  4. Ask how they hunt. — When selecting a Realtor, ask how they seek houses. Some real estate agents have their own preferred listings that they favor. But you want what’s ideal for you, not what’s great for your Realtor. So make sure the Realtor is willing to search high and low to find the best choice of house for you. That includes using the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) as well as their own personal network.
  5. Learn more about the representation agreement presented to you. — The Commonwealth of Virginia requires all licensed agents to sign a representation agreement before showing properties or having material discussions about a specific residence. Be very wary of any agent that is not concerned about getting a representation agreement signed. It doesn't hurt to have a legal counselor take a look at your representation agreement, but usually that's not necessary. The document is pretty straight forward. This advice is heavily used for a reason.
