The King Street Metro is a Washington Metro Station in Alexandria VA that was opened in December 17 1983 and operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority servicing both the Blue and Yellow Lines. The King Street Metro used to service the Yellow Line alone till the Blue Line was extended from The National Airport to Van Dorn Street in 1991. There are entrances to the station on King Street and Diagonal Road while providing a center platform with tactile paving strips for visually impaired passengers. A pair of escalators, one staircase and one elevator provides access to the station,

The King Street Metro Station is adjacent to the Alexandria Union Station that also serves Old Town Alexandria while Metro bus and DASH provides services to the station. Its location is 12 blocks from the intersection of King Street and Washington Street and 17 blocks away from the Waterfront. There are 30 short term metered parking spaces, 34 bike racks and 20 lockers at King Street Metro Station.
The King Street Metro Station opens at 4:53 am where the first train leaves at 5:37am to Franconia- Springfield, 5:48am to Huntington, 5:11am to Largo Town Center and 5:03am to Mt. Vernon Square 7th St – Convention Center. The last train leaves at 11:37pm to Fort Totten and 12:35am to Huntington. On Weekends, the first train leaves 2 hours later and the last train leaves 3 hours later on Fridays and Saturdays.
There are a variety of things to do at King Street Metro Station with the numerous shopping, dining and recreation opportunities around it. The Patent and Trademark office is only a few blocks away and so is the George Washington National Masonic Memorial.
