Visit the Sully Historic Site
The Sully Historic Site (Sully Park) is located at 3650 Historic Sully Way, Chantilly, VA 20151. Educational programs, craft demonstrations and living history events are offered throughout the year, along with guided tours, highlighting the early 19th century life of the Lee Family, tenant farmers, and enslaved African Americans.
The focus of this historic site is the home of Richard Bland Lee, northern Virginia’s first congressman. The Lee house was was built in 1794. Today, the house has been restored and furnished with antiques of the federal period. Several outbuildings have been reconstructed to help show life in Fairfax County’s past. These outbuildings include a kitchen, smokehouse, slave quarters and stone dairy. The grounds of the house are complemented by both a formal garden and a kitchen garden. The site is included on the National Register of Historic Places. Call 703-437-1794 for more information or reservations.
- Open: Daily 11am – 4pm, except closed Tuesdays and some holidays, check with the site. The park will close at 5pm. Grounds are open free of charge, except when a special event is scheduled, then admission event prices will apply.
- House Tours: Guided tours of the main house given on the hour. Open daily from 11am-4pm, closed Tuesdays. Last tour at 4pm. January and February, last tour is 3:00pm. July and August only: special early opening – 10a.m. – 4pm, first tour at 10:00 and last tour at 4pm.
- Forgotten Road Tours: Outside walking tour of the original outbuildings and slave quarter given at 2pm through mid-November. Mid-November through February by reservation only. No tour offered during events, during inclement weather/code red or higher weather conditions, call site to confirm tour status.
- Cost: $6/Adult, $5/Student (16+), $4/Senior (age 64 by December 31, 2009 ), and $4/Child (5-15), per tour. Cost for both tours, approximately two hours in length: $8/Adult, $6/Student, $6/Senior and child.
- Gift Shop: Open daily from 11am-4pm, except Tuesdays and some holidays, check with the site. Take home a historical remembrance of your visit to Sully. Unique gifts include tricorn hats, early 1800s reproductions, quill pens, caps, historic games and toys, blue and white ware, history books, tea cups and much more!January and February, open daily 11am – 3pm, closed Tuesdays.
