Looking for a home in the Lyles-Crouch Elementary School District?
Lyles-Crouch Elementary School, located in Alexandria, Virginia, serves grades K-5 in the Alexandria City Public Schools district. It is among the few public elementary schools in Virginia to receive a distinguished GreatSchools Rating of 8 out of 10. Lyles-Crouch is a part of the Alexandria Public Schools System, but in many respects it is more like a private school. For example, all students are required to wear traditional school uniforms.
Lyles-Crouch Elementary School is located in the south-eastern corner of Old Town Alexandria. The school’s structure is a large, rectangular red brick building built in the middle of the last century. The building has benefited from extensive renovations—directed and designed by the local firm BMK Architecture of Alexandria, Virginia.

City of Fairfax now provides SafeAssured Kits for Fairfax children
Parents have an effective tool in finding their children if they are lost or abducted: SafeAssured ID System, which is being made available for free to the public.
The City of Fairfax Police Department, with the Optimist Club of Central Fairfax, will prepare SafeAssured ID kits to families by appointment from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. February 26 at the police station, 3730 Old Lee Highway.

The SafeAssured ID System provides parents with a full-color photo ID card and mini-CD that contains as many as 10 digital fingerprints; a digital photo; video showing movements and mannerisms, voice providing inflections and accents, general physical description; vital personal information; and a family code word. Private information is encrypted and accessible only by law enforcement.
Posters for missing children can be created and printed directly from the mini-CD in English, Spanish and French.
Parents also will receive a safety tips guidebook with helpful safety tips and detailed instructions on DNA collection. All information collected is saved directly to the mini-CD, which goes home with parents the same day. There is no database.

At Alexandria’s Southside on the Potomac
Just steps from Porto Vecchio the brick sidewalks of Old Town, so-called because it is the oldest part of Alexandria – originally laid out in 1749 – and a nationally designated historic district. Many of its 4,000 historic buildings houses, art galleries, antique shops and restaurants. Porto Vecchio straddles the Mount Vernon trail which runs upriver toward Reagan National Airport and downriver toward Mount Vernon. Many residents of Porto Vecchio have views of the Belle Haven Marina or the Belle Haven Country Club.
